tar: Packing tip

tar: Packing tip

When you are creating a tarfile, you should never specify a full pathname (i.e. one with first character /) for the input files, as tar will attempt to recreate the files in a directory with exactly the same name when you extract them.

If you are extracting them on another system, this directory might not exist. Use a relative pathname instead.
