Math 251H meets MW6 in Hill 124, and T6 in ARC-108. To meet the schedule of an available Peer Mentor, the workshop class will be on Wednesday.
The instructor for this section is Prof. Bumby. The Peer Mentor is Aori Nevo. A course site has been created in Sakai (a Course Management System being tested at Rutgers). Information about the course is likely to be posted to that site before a copy is added to this page, so you should report any difficulty accessing the site in class.
Class exams are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday February
7, Tuesday March 7 (changed), Tuesday April
4, and Wednesday April 26. The final exam
is scheduled for Friday May 5, 4 -7 PM.

A distribution of grades on each problem on the first exam is given below.
| Prob. # | Scaled Avg. |
|---|---|
| 1 | 9.93 |
| 2 | 10.00 |
| 3 | 9.11 |
| 4 | 6.74 |

| 6 | 9.41 |
Exam 2 has been
graded. The average was 72.11 (out of 80) with a median of 74. The
scatter plot shows a comparison of grades on the two exams along with
a trend line showing how the score on the first exam predicts
the score on the second. Individual grades have been entered in the FAS
Gradebook. There is also a list of scaled averages
(formed my dividing by the maximum possible score [or base score
] and multiplying by 10) for each problem. Scaling allows easy
comparison of the difficulty of problems of different weight, since
the maximum score is always 10.
| Prob. # | Scaled Avg. |
|---|---|
| 1 | 9.67 |
| 2 | 7.04 |
| 3 | 9.78 |
| 4 | 9.33 |
| 5 | 8.96 |
| 6 | 9.78 |
Exam 3 has been
graded. The average score was 69.67 and the median was 69. The
scatter plot shows a comparison of this grade to the total of the
first two exams along with a trend line.

| 2 | 8.78 |
| 3 | 8.00 |
| 4 | 8.74 |
| 5 | 8.96 |
| 6 | 8.89 |
Exam 4 has been
graded. The average score was 75.33 and the median was 75. The
scatter plot shows a comparison of this grade to the total of the
first two exams along with a trend line. Individual grades have been entered in the FAS
Gradebook. There is also a list of scaled averages
(formed my dividing by the maximum possible score [or base score

| 6 | 7.58 |
The final exam has been
graded, and course grades submitted. The average score was 182 out of
200 and the median was 188. The
scatter plot shows a comparison of this grade to the total of all
class work along with a trend line and a line showing a total
course score of 685 separating course grades of A and
B+. Individual grades have been entered in the FAS
Gradebook.
