COMPUTER PROJECT 2 (related to section 4.3)

This is a quick project, valid for 5 quiz points.

Please submit your answer BY EMAIL, with a
    SUBJECT: "project2 answer"
BY the deadline announced in class.

(1) Graph (for yourself, but do not send the answers to me) the following,
for t from 0 to 200 (more or less):

    (a) sin(t) + sin(t/100)
    (b) sin(t) + sin(1.1*t)
    (c) sin(t) + sin(1.2*t)
    (d) sin(t) + sin(1.75*t)

(2) Visit, one at the time, with your browser, the following sites:

These are sound recordings made of two signals added together. Both signals
are pure tones, i.e. pure "sine functions", one of which is always at the same
frequency (I didn't do the recording, but I *think* one of them it is @ 500
Hertz), and the other one is at a small, larger, and even larger multiple
of the original frequency.

(WARNING: locate a volume control before starting, if you can! Otherwise, if
there are people next to you, they may get very annoyed. But the sounds only
last a few seconds each, in any case.)

If you have problems hearing anything, please try a different computer. It
works OK on Solaris and on Windows, running Netscape, and I am quite sure in
most other configs too, but I didn't check other combinations of op system and
browser. Let me know by email if you have problems.

YOUR REPORT should consist of ONE PARAGRAPH of English text, no
formulas, explaining (1) what you saw in the 4 plots, and (2) which of
the sounds which you heard would correspond qualitatively with which
graphs (b-d) (there is none for (a)). (Your answer should be something like
"the last sound corresponds to graph c, the first to... etc").
