Forwarding Email

Forwarding email is used by many people for a variety of different reasons. Whether you want all your email to go to one account, or you want to temporarily use it while you are away, the setup is always the same. And lucky for us, it is pretty easy to setup.

Directions

  1. Create or open the .forward file

Use Putty or SSH to login to the math server, and then use your favorite text editor (emacs, pine, vi, ed, etc) to create or modify the .forward file.
  2. Edit the file

All you need to do to forward the your email is to type in the email address to which you want your mail forwarded to. Just make sure that if you are forwarding to more than one place, such as the case when using spam filtering also, that you keep everything on one line, and separate them by commas.
