Skype

Skype

Skype is currently installed on all the Linux machine in the Math Department. The reason for this is that Skype charges a very low rate for international calls compared to our normal carrier. There are some things that need to be done in order to use Skype for voice over ip though. There is alot more help material found on support.skype.com.

Here is a page that discusses the price for Skype use: skype.com/prices. 1) To use Skype you must have either a headset or microphone so that you can talk into the program. In our experience the headset is a better option as it brings the microhpone closer to the user's mouth and so they will be hard more clearly. In either case though, we recommend getting a USB device rather than one that plugs in the microphone and speaker jack. 2) You will need to create a skype account.
