Surya Teja Gavva, Rutgers University: I will continue the discussion of Duke's theorem on equidistribution of closed geodesics on modular surface. Last week, in Katie's talk, we saw that the problem is reduced to getting non-trivial bounds on Fourier coefficients of half integral weight cusp forms. I'll show Duke's original proof using Iwaniec's idea of averaging over level. If time permits, I'll try to compare it with others proofs using ergodic methods and subconvexity estimates.
