"Zero-One Laws for Random Graphs"

Time: 1:40 PM

Location: Hill Grad Student Lounge

Abstract: What is the probability that if you pick a graph at random with lots of vertices it has an isolated vertex, what about the probability it has a triangle? In this talk we will examine graph properties that can be expressed in the first-order theory of graphs. We will investigate the limiting probability, as the number of vertices (n) goes to infinity, that the random graph Gn,p has these properties. We will examine both the cases when p is constant and when it is a function of the number of vertices. We will prove a few results and play some games in the process!
