Quantitative results in elliptic homogenization

Scott Armstrong, Courant Institute: I will discuss recent results in stochastic homogenization of divergence-form elliptic equations and connections to problems in probability theory. In particular, I will focus on the new higher regularity theory in homogenization-- which roughly says that solutions of equations with random coefficients have much better regularity than solutions of equations with generic coefficients-- and the important role it plays in a new renormalization argument which leads to optimal quantitative estimates and scaling limits.
