Tropical algebraic geometry

Tropical algebraic geometry is the geometry of the tropical semiring (min-plus-algebra). Its objects are polyhedral cell complexes which behave like complex algebraic varieties. We give an introduction to this theory and its applications. The emphasis is on plane curves, linear spaces and Grassmannians. References: math.AG/0209253, math.AG/0306366, math.AG/0304218
