The exciting world of small groups
Working in group theory one realizes that groups if they are large enough they behave very kindly. The small groups are those which make all the trouble. One of the major theorems in finite group theory is the classification of the finite simple groups. The small groups in that context are the sporadic groups. We will present some of the sporadic groups from the ones discovered by Mathieu to those discovered by Janko.
We will show the special character of these groups and some impact they had on the classification and so on group theory. We will see a tiny corner of this exciting world of groups.
