Abstract.

I'll talk about some finite sums related to modular form coefficients, and how they pop up in problems in classical analysis (Riemann's "everywhere nondifferentiable" continuous function), cryptography (gauging the difficulty of elliptic curve problems), and modern number theory and L-functions (Langlands program).
