This is a weekly seminar held held during the fall semester which
will provide students with a chance to give a practice
job talk, and to get feedback on their talk. All students and
faculty are welcome to attend.
All students who will be applying for jobs during the current
academic year are encouraged to give a talk. If slots remain
after these students hava a chance to sign up, other students
may make use of available slots. Please send email
to blight@math.rutgers.edu giving your preference for which
day that you will talk. The first slot will be September 14.
It may be difficult finding students to take early slots,
so please consider taking one of the early slots.
Students will give a colloquium style talk. Here are some guidelines for preparing your talk. Also, the paper How to give a good colloquium by John E. McCarthy has some useful advice.
NOTE: It was previously announced that the seminar will be
held Monday at 3:15, however a possible problem with that
time has emerged. The seminar may still be at that time,
but it may be moved. Students will be notified about this.
Refreshments are available begining at 3:00 in Hill
Center 703.
