Here are some screen shots, mostly from my linux system at home,
but one is from OS/2. They show the effect of the 3d widget set on
some familiar programs.
The Xaw3d library is usually installed as a replacement for the usual Xaw library. This allows familiar programs to assume a new appearance. Examples are Xfig and xdvi.
One program that insists on using this library is gv, which is a replacement for ghostview. Here is another shot showing the open file dialog.
There is another replacement for ghostview that I am using under OS/2.
It can be compiled under linux, and possibly Solaris, using the GTK+
library, but I haven't done it yet on my home system. Unfortunately,
it is nagware, which probably makes it
unsuitable for use on our network. It is also tuned to a particular
release of ghostscript, which can be troublesome to maintain. On the
positive side, it seems to be the most user-friendly front end to
ghostscript, allowing easy access to all features.
