QUIZZES.   Our first quiz will be on Thursday, September 13; it will deal with the material in Lectures 1 and 2 of the syllabus (this is all review). Thereafter, we'll have a quiz every Thursday; each quiz will be about recently covered material.
WORKSHOPS. Every Wednesday we'll have a workshop. Check this website for the worksheets. Your written solutions are due on the following Wednesday. Your exposition should be correct, clear, and complete. For more details on what constitutes a good write-up, read this brief document on writing solutions to workshop problems.
No late write-ups will be accepted.
CALCULATOR. A graphing calculator is required for this course; we do not insist on a particular brand or model. You'll use the calculator a lot in solving homework and workshop problems. However, it will not be needed (or allowed) during the midterms or final exam.
