Students should check this website often, since material is added and updated as the course proceeds. At the appropriate time, you'll find information on workshops   exam reviews,   formula sheets , and Maple labs.   You may need to re-load this page on your browser to see content that has been recently added.

Here is the page on SYLLABUS AND REGULAR HOMEWORK
it is a good idea to print these..

WORKSHOPS:   On most Thursday we'll have a workshop. One exception is THURSDAY JANUARY 19, WHEN THE CLASS WILL MEET IN THE COMPUTER LAB, ARC 116. Check this page for the worksheets, which will usually be posted a day or two before the workshop. Your written solutions are due on the following Thursday.   NO LATE WRITE-UPS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT GOOD CAUSE. Your exposition should be correct, clear, coherent, and complete. In particular, the problem to be solved must be clearly stated.   For more details on what constitutes a good write-up, read this brief document on writing solutions to workshop problems.

MIDTERM EXAMS The first midterm will be on Monday, February 27.
The second midterm will be on Monday, April 9.

FINAL EXAM:  Friday May 4, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., in our usual classroom, ARC 204.
EXTRA OFFICE HOURS BEFORE THE FINAL EXAM:   Wednesday May 3, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

QUIZZES:   We'll have a quiz every Wednesday, beginning with January 25. Each quiz will be about material covered recently, typically that of the preceding week. Homework problems are a good guide for preparing to take the quizzes — and the exams. NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT GOOD CAUSE.

MAPLE LABS:   The Maple program is available to students in the Rutgers computer labs. Several Maple labs will be assigned during the semester. NO LATE LABS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT GOOD CAUSE.
The due date for each lab and the necessary instructions are to be found on the Maple labs page.

TEXTBOOK:  Rogawski's Calculus Early Transcendentals, W.H.Freeman, first edition.
The Rutgers "custom edition" has been augmented with some Rutgers "local matter," which is also available here. Other than that, the Rutgers custom edition and the standard edition are the same; you can use either one.

CALCULATORS:   A graphing calculator is required for the workshops and some homework problems. No particular model is required, but the calculator should have at least the capabilities of the TI82. Calculators will NOT be allowed during quizzes and exams.

GRADING:
Quizzes: 50 points
Workshops: 50 points
Maple Labs: 50 points
First midterm: 100 points
Second midterm: 100 points
Final Exam: 200 points
Total: 550 points
