Catherine the Mathematician:
I am a graduate student at Rutgers studying Geometric Group Theory under the guidance of the
Amazing Professor Lee Mosher
My research focuses on the action of Out(F_n) on Outerspace in analogue with the study of the Mapping Class Group action on Teichmuller Space.
So I study MCG's and Teichmuller Thry, and I study Out(F_n) and Outerspace, and I play around with long strings of letters.
In the spring of 2008, I organized a Graduate Student Seminar on Teichmuller Theory and Mapping Class Groups.
Last year I organized a Graduate Student Seminar in Geometric Group Theory.
Here's my Curriculum Vitae (It desperately needs to be updated, sorry)
I had a wonderful time at the MSRI Fall 2007!
Pictures in personal section, But check out the notes that I took as an official notetaker for a course on Out(F_n):
Lecture 1 ,
Lecture 2 ,
Lecture 3 ,
Lecture 4
I founded a directed reading program in the Rutgers Mathematics Department:
Rutgers Directed Reading Program
Catherine the Teacher:
I am currently TAing for Math 151.
For course materials, etc, please click here (If I still don't have it updated, please email me for documents)
In the past, I have taught Math 135 (Calculus), Math 251 (Multivariable Calculus), & Math 244 (Differential Equations for Engineers & Physicists). I have TAed for Calc I and Calc II for Biosci
I also founded the Rutgers Directed Reading Program in Mathematics,
through which I most recently mentored Chris Skalit in algebraic topology.
Past mentees have included Charles Siegel,
Aaron Samkoff, Avi Rashin, and Jordan Ledvina.

I ran the 2005 & 2008 Philadelphia Marathons for Asha for Education (literacy in India):
Pictures from 2005 Marathon. (Not so many photographers in 2008, I also, unfortunately, had to walk the last 6 mi's in 2008 due to a joint injury)
Thank you to all of my sponsors who helped me raise over $2,000 those years!
Other than math and running, I enjoy bicycling, family and friends, traveling,
cooking and baking, learning Hindi & Bengali,
kids, playing the piano, writing stories, being outdoors and physically active, basketball, and soccer.
I regularly play basketball and soccer (grad_soccer "at" email.rutgers.edu).
Please let me know if you're in the area and would like to join in!
