Teaching:

In Spring 2011 I will be teaching workshops for sections 13, 14 and 15 of Math 152 (Calculus II for the Mathematical and Physical Sciences) and my course webpage can be found here.

Current Project:

For my Masters Essay I am currently working on an expositional paper regarding K.F.Roth's seminal paper "On Certain Sets of Integers". You can find my most recent version of this paper here.

About Me:

I'm a second year graduate student, having received my MMath from Oxford University. I am interested in Combinatorics, namely additive combinatorics. I am also interested in the use of computers to aid mathematical discoveries, one of the ideas behind Experimental Math. I was honoured to recieve a 2009-2010 Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship to study at Rutgers from the US-UK Fulbright Commission.

I come from a little farm in the North East of England and went to school at Coquet High School in Amble, Northumberland. While at Oxford University, rowing was a large part of my life, rowing for Wadham College 1st VIII and my local rowing club, Berwick ARC. Since coming to Rutgers I have joined the Rutgers Cycling Team and plan to compete in my first triathlon in July (raising money for charity in the process). I also play classical guitar and enjoy choral singing (where I am a bass).

While back at Oxford I started volunteering at a charity called KEEN Oxford - Kids Enjoy Exercise Now. This charity was set up twenty years ago to provide one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. Since arriving in the U.S. I have volunteered at KEEN New York and this is one of the two charities I raised money for when I completed the NJ State Olympic Triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) on 25th July 2010 (the other of which is the Motor Neurone Disease Association). You can read more about KEEN here which is a post from my blog explaining why I love KEEN.

I am documenting my adventures while in the US on my blog, David Across the Atlantic - which will contain everything from Fulbright, Math, KEEN New York, Cycling and everything else in between.

Photography

I have recently taken up photography, and am planning on documenting my time in America through many pictures! I have a Flickr Page where you can view my latest pictures. I currently use a Sony Alpha 200 DSLR with a Sigma 18-200mm lens.
I recently took some pictures at the 2009 HPCX race which is hosted by Rutgers Cycling Team. There is a set of around 50 photos on my Flickr page as well as a team photo.
