3. The graph of f(x) = (x -5)/(x 2 -2x -3). is below. The x- intercept is 5 and the y- intercept is 5/3. The vertical asymptotes are x= -1 and x= 3. The horizontal asymptote is y= 0. The domain of log[(x -5)/(x 2 -2x -3)] is (-1,3) U(5,¥).

4. The graph of f(x) = ex+1-4 is below, left. The asymptote is y = -4. The y-intercept exact is e-4 which is -1.28 accurate to 2 decimal places: the x-intercept exact is ln(4)-1 which is 0.39 accurate to 2 decimal places. f -1(x) = ln(x+4)-1.
