Boycott of Israeli Academics

Dear Colleague:

I invite you to sign on this statement which is a response to a recurring call of boycotts against Israeli academics.

  1. I will not publish, referee for, or subscribe to any journal that discriminates again Israelis, Palestinians or any other nationalities.

  2. I will actively oppose any discrimination again Israelis, Palestinians or other nationalities by universities or other institutions.

  3. I strongly support collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian researchers, academics, and scholars of all kinds and I urge both sides to facilitate such collaborations.

  4. In particular I urge Israel to ease residency requirements on Palestinians or other academics wishing to teach in Palestinians universities, and the Palestinian Authority to encourage Palestinian academics to collaborate on academic projects with Israelis, to work at Israeli universities or institutes, and to invite Israelis to work at Palestinian universities or institutes.

With all best wishes,
Joel Lebowitz
