Speaker: V. Mastropietro, Date/Time/Place: Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, 12:00pm, Hill 705 Title: Extended scaling relations for planar lattice spin models Abstract: The validity of several extended scaling relations
has been conjectured in planar lattice models, like the Eight Vertex or the
Ashkin-Teller models, or in quantum spin chains; in all such models the
indices are continous functions of the Hamiltonian parameters.
We prove, by using the methods of constructive Renormalization, the
validity of some of them, including the well known
relation $x_- x_+=1$ conjectured by Kadanoff (1977) about the energy and
the crossover indices, and the relation
$\n=(2-x_-^{-1})$ for the correlation length index conjectured by Luther
and Poeschel (1975).
THERE WILL BE A BROWN BAG LUNCH BETWEEN THE TWO SEMINARS FROM
1-2PM
Speaker: F. Bonetto, Georgia Tech. Date/Time/Place: Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, 2:00pm, Hill 705 Title: Heat conduction in crystals with self consistent reservoirs Abstract: TBA
Speaker: G. Gallavotti, Rome I - INFN Date/Time/Place: Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, 12:00pm, Hill 705 Title: Resonances in Chaotic Systems Abstract: A few simple cases in which resonances occur in presence
of chaotic motions and have a structure that can be analytically
studied: these are examples of "synchronization".
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE A SEMINAT ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 30TH
