Announcement

Homework:
Suggested homework problems are assigned at Homework.pdf. Although homework will not be collected, you are expected to work on all the problems and encouraged to ask questions during office hour about problems with which you have difficulty.

Quizzes:
At the end of some classes there will be a short quiz consisting of two or three problems similar to the homework problems. Each quiz is 20 points and 5 quizzes will be given during the semester. There are no made-up quizzes.

Workshop:
Half of the lecture on Friday will be a workshop. 3-4 problems will be assigned for each workshop session. After going through the homework and answering questions (not more than 20 minutes!), instructor will let the students form groups of 3-4 persons. These groups discuss the workshop problems and ways to solve them. The students will take notes (sloppy copies). At the end, the instructor will assign one (1) of the problems to be written up at home and handed in on next Monday. No collaborations are permitted at this stage!

Exams:
There are one midterm exam and one final exam. The exam time will be announced at least one week in advance.
