About collaborating on Homework and Workshops

  • Working together on problem solving is an excellent aid to learning the course material. Students are encouraged to discuss the course material and problems with other students, both in the workshop sections and outside of class.
  • While it is fine to discuss problems with other, write-ups of HW and workshops that are collected for grading should be done independently , and not in groups.
  • No written work pertaining to assigned problems should be shared with other students (prior to the due date of the assignments). If you work with someone on an assigned problem, do not exchange your written notes on the problem.
  • When handing in an assignment, include a brief statement about people you worked with or received help from, for example "I worked together with Bill Smith and Holly Jones on this assignment." or "The TA showed me how to solve problem 1".
