So far I found references to several applications in optimal control, in non-linear control, and in manipulation of models of dynamic systems. I would appreciate information or references to other applications. Areas of applications that I found include aerospace, robotics, and chemical engineering. My own research is on computer-aided control system analysis and design and I am interested in the integration (not in math sense) of symbolic and numerical computing with interactive graphics to provide more powerful tools for analysis and design of control systems. Appliations of other AI techniques are also of interest. Thanks, Hany K. The Editors seek experienced teachers who will describe approaches to the teaching of specific topics in control analysis and design which have proved to be particularly illuminating for their students. Descriptions of carefully crafted control laboratory experiments are also sought. It is hoped that this volume of papers will be useful for less experienced teachers of control. Examples of topics are given here for illustration only: compensation of non-minimum phase systems, impulse functions at the origin, error coefficients from sinusoidal steady state measurements, derivation of Routh Hurwitz conditions. Preference will be given to well defined topics and approaches which might require one to four lecture hours in a senior/graduate level course. Teachers from throughout the world are invited to submit five copies of a two page abstract identifying their topics and pedagogical approach before 1 February 1989 for initial screening. Selected authors will be notified during April and manuscripts will be due in June 1989 from which a final selection will be made. Publication is planned for February 1990. Guest Editors of the Special Issue are Professor Stephen Kahne, Oregon Graduate Center and Professor Renjeng Su, University of Colorado. A distinguished Guest Editorial Board will review all abstracts and papers. Abstracts should be sent to the address shown either by mail or telefax: Professor Renjeng Su, Department of EE/CS, University of Colorado, Boulder, CO 80309 USA. Tel. (303)4921479. Papers in the general area are welcome; however, we encourage work which contains both a computational and linear algebraic component. One of our goals is to identify and focus attention on those areas of interior point methods where the computational aspects of linear algebra play an important role. In accordance with this objective thorough computational experimental works which demonstrate a significant aspect of a particular algorithmic formulation or contain enlightening comparative research will also be considered. Papers should meet the usual publication standards of LAA and will be refereed. The deadline for submission is August, 1989 with expected publication in the summer or fall of 1990.
