Note: Do not forget to "reload" the assignments pages - if you visited them before, your browser may be showing you only the old cached page. At the bottom portion of this document you can find dated information about our homework/exams/grading.
You may find a copy of our section's syllabus at http://math.rutgers.edu/courses/250/250-s07/syllabus.pdf. It is subject to adjustment. Any updated information should be posted on this web page. However, the most accurate information will be from the lectures. you may find some of the resources posted at http://math.rutgers.edu/courses/250/math250.html useful.
Homework and Quizzes: Homework problems will be assigned
at each lecture from the list at
http://math.rutgers.edu/courses/250/250-s07/homework.pdf.
Note that the assignment for 5.5 has been changed to: 27, 29, 33, 47.
You are responsible for
completing all assigned problems in a timely fashion.
Although homework problems will not be graded, there will be
weekly short quizzes based on the homework problems. The quizzes will
usually be given at the end of the class period. There will be no make-up
for quizzes.
Dated Material:
Here are some remarks and suggested problems in preparation for Midterm I, which is scheduled to be in class on Feb. 20.
Here are some suggested problems in preparation for Midterm II, which is scheduled to be in class on April 3.
The final exam, scheduled on May 3, noon---3pm, in MU-212, will cover all the material that we have
discussed in the semester. A good way to prepare for it is to first review the midterm exams. I suggest
that you redo the problems without using any extra help and within the normal test time limit. This way you
can find out which areas are your weak areas, and then you can do some additional focused review. For
the material that we covered after the second midterm,
here are some suggested review problems.
Attendance and Make-up Policy: Class attendance is expected. Poor attendance will be used to decide borderline grade situations. Any changes to the syllabus, homework assignment and any announcement for the midterms and final exam will be made in the lectures. There will be no make-ups for quizzes. A make-up midterm will be given only if you have a valid reason such as serious illness (not a slight cold) or a family emergency, and provide an acceptable, written excuse (not an email message), or you will receive a grade of zero. If possible (particularly if you want to be sure that your excuse is an acceptable one), contact me before missing an exam.
Your grade will be determined on the following 500-points basis:
The final exam is scheduled on Thursday, May 3, noon--3pm, MU-212.
