The UMBRAL TRANSFER-MATRIX METHOD: II. COUNTING PLANE PARTITIONS

By Doron Zeilberger

Exclusive for the Personal Journal of Ekhad and Zeilberger

Written: Oct. 26 2000.

This sequal to the Foundations article in this Umbral Transfer Matrix series , is mainly pedagogical. It illustrates how to automatically derive Umbral Schemes for plane partitions and monotone triangles, but does not derive any `new' formula or compute any `new' numbers. Much more impressive applications are coming up in parts III, IV, and V.

IMPORTANT: This article is accompanied by a Maple package PPar. In order to use PPar, you must have, in the same directory, the Maple package ROTA, that accompanied part I.
