Abstract: Many years ago Yang-Zhu proved the Sobolev inequality for fourth order Paneitz operator on the standard three sphere. Here we will discuss a new proof in the spirit of subcritical approximation in the classical Yamabe problem. The solution to the perturbed problem provides a new example of symmetrization for higher order variational functionals. We will also describe a possible Liouville type statement which remains an open question.
