Mathematical Physics Seminar

Surface diffusion and related problems

Amy Novick-Cohen, Technion

Location:  HILL 705
Date & time: Thursday, 12 October 2017 at 2:00PM - 3:00PM

Abstract: Surface diffusion arises in a variety of materials science contexts, often accompanied by grain boundary motion. Problems of interest include: thermal grooving, wetting and dewetting, identification of steady states and their stability. In this lecture we  outline some recent progress with regard to these problems, after reviewing some prominent features of surface diffusion as a fourth order evolutionary geometric motion.
