An Algebraic Proof of Sperner’s Theorem

Weihong Xu, Rutgers University

Location:  GSL
Date & time: Wednesday, 12 September 2018 at 12:15PM - 1:15PM

Abstract:  My main goal in this talk is to present an interesting algebraic proof of Sperner’s theorem on the size of anti-chains. This proof can also be understood using the representation theory of sl2. I learned this proof from June Huh. This talk should be accessible to people with minimal combinatorics background (I will start with basics definitions) and people without any knowledge of Lie algebras.
