The min-max width of unit volume three-spheres

Lucas Ambrozio (IAS)

Location:  Hill 705
Date & time: Tuesday, 30 October 2018 at 3:00PM - 4:00PM

Abstract: The min-max width of a Riemannian three-sphere, as defined by Simon and Smith, is a geometric invariant that measures the  tightest way of sweeping out the three-sphere by two-spheres. In this talk, we will discuss the relations between the min-max width and the volume of Riemannian three-spheres.

This is a joint work with Rafael Montezuma (Princeton).
