WIP Seminar

An introduction to Lie and representation theory in physics

PARKER HUND, Rutgers

Location:  Hill 703
Date & time: Wednesday, 05 December 2018 at 11:00AM - 12:00PM

Abstract: I will talk about the relations among and representations of the groups and corresponding algebras of U(1), U(2), SU(2), and SO(3). There will be at least one simple application. Hopefully, I will also have time to talk about the Schroedinger representation of the Heisenberg group and algebra. And if there is still time, I will also discuss the Lie algebra of vector fields on phase space and its connections to the symplectic geometry of phase space.
