Nonlinear Analysis

An Optimal Sobolev Inequality for L1

Daniel Spector, National Chiao Tung University

Date & time: Tuesday, 29 January 2019 at 1:40PM - 3:00PM

Abstract:  In this talk we discuss how some often overlooked estimates for the classical Poisson equation in the L1 regime naturally suggest the investigation of certain analogous estimates for the Riesz potential.  The observation that such estimates hold on the Lebesgue scale is a result of the speaker, Armin Schikorra, and Jean Van Schaftingen, while we will present here a recent result of the speaker which obtains the optimal inequality on the Lorentz scale.
