| Abstract: | The essential dimension of... "things" informally speaking, is the number of "independent parameters" required to describe the most general thing. As a simple example: you need one parameter to describe a quadratic extension. What about a degree n extension? That's too hard (at least for me)! We will try to work it out for small values of n. |
