When Photon Met Electron:  A Bohmian Rhapsody

Abstract:   In this talk I present a recent joint work with Michael Kiessling and Matthias Lienert,  in which we formulate a fully Lorenz-covariant system of equations for the multi-time wave function of a two-body quantum-mechanical system in one space dimension comprised of one electron and one photon that are interacting via a Lorentz-invariant boundary condition derived from particle current conservation. We prove that the corresponding initial-boundary-value problem is well-posed, and that the trajectories obtained for the two particles via a Hypersurface Dirac-Bohm theory exist globally, for typical initial positions. I will end by showing preliminary results of some ongoing numerical experiments.
