Tropical curve counts

Chris Woodward

Location:  Serin Lab E372
Date & time: Thursday, 26 September 2019 at 11:00AM - 12:00PM

I will talk about joint work with Sushmita Venugopalan on the tropical
limit of holomorphic curves, roughly along the lines of Brett Parker's
work on holomorphic curve limits under degeneration of the target, but
with an additional degeneration corresponding to a
Fulton-Sturfels-type splitting of the diagonal. In the case that the
target degenerates to a union of toric varieties, one gets a formula
for holomorphic curve counts as a sum of a product over vertices in a
tropical graph; as a consequence we show that in this situation any
Lagrangian that is a "tropical toric moment fiber" is unobstructed.
