Abstract: As we all know, modular forms give rise to Dirichlet series with analytic continuation and functional equation. The Rankin-Selberg Method can be used to show the holomorphy of even more Dirichlet series. In this talk I want to sketch out how to get the analytic continuation of the "Rankin Selberg Square" L-function (following Rankin) and also the "Symmetric Square L-function" (following Shimura). In both cases we will see the prominence of Eisenstein series, classical and metaplectic.
