Crystallographic Sphere Packings and Local-Global Problems

Alex Karlovitz (Rutgers)

Location:  Via Zoom, email Brooke at: bl481@math.rutgers.edu for login information.
Date & time: Wednesday, 14 October 2020 at 1:30PM - 2:30PM

This talk will have two parts. In the first part, we will discuss the general notion of crystallographic sphere packings. This will include Kontorovich and Nakamura's Structure Theorem. In the second part, we will discuss positive density results towards local-global problems in this area. We will see how inversive coordinates (discussed in Edna Jones' talk last week) can be used to simplify these arguments.
