Zeros of Riemann Zeta Function, III

Kevin Kwan (Columbia)

Location:  zoom
Date & time: Tuesday, 16 February 2021 at 4:00PM - 5:00PM

Abstract: This is a continuation of the last two talks of Louis. In this talk, we will discuss Levinson's method of counting the critical zeros of the Riemann zeta function, which produces a surprisingly good proportion of zeros on the critical line. Although the highlight of the method should be the evaluation of the second mollified moment of the zeta function, we will focus on the set-up of the method in this introductory talk and postpone the technical details to a future talk. We will start with the necessary complex analysis which relates the counting function of the critical zeros to the mean value theorem of the zeta function. Then we will proceed as much as possible towards the evaluation of the diagonal terms.
