Title: Generic mean curvature flow
Abstract: Mean curvature flow is the gradient flow of the area functional on submanifolds. In the best-case scenario, it simplifies a submanifold into a set of simple models, but complicated singularities can obstruct our understanding of the flow. I will report on work with Kyeongsu Choi, Christos Mantoulidis, and Felix Schulze proving that "generically" the singularities that arise are much simpler than one might fear.
