K-theory of curves and spectra of operators

Matt Kerr

Location:  Hill 705
Date & time: Friday, 27 October 2023 at 4:00PM - 5:00PM

Speaker: Matt Kerr (Washington U.)

Title: K-theory of curves and spectra of operators
Abstract:  We explain a surprising new mathematical link between functional analysis and algebraic K-theory inspired by the conjectural topological-string/spectral-theory correspondence in physics.  The main “area” of the talk is algebraic geometry, but the objects discussed will just be families of elliptic curves.  This talk is based on joint work with Chuck Doran and Soumya Sinha Babu.
