 bust methods for qualitative properties of kinetic equations, especially eq
 uilibration, for linear and nonlinear models. The linear kinetic Fokker-Pla
 nck equation is a most famous archetype, however even in this setting the t
 heory is incomplete. I will review the whole field and describe work in col
 laboration with Debbasch and Ollivier.\n
