DESCRIPTION:In 2009, Kahn and Markovic proved the Surface Subgroup Theorem, and they ac
 tually found a large family of pi_1-injective immersed surfaces in closed h
 yperbolic 3-manifolds. Hamenstadt later showed that any cocompact lattice o
 f some simple rank 1 Lie group other than SO(2m,1) (m geq 1) has a surface 
 subgroup. In this talk, we will discuss the case of SO(4,1) and construct p
 i_1-injective immersed surfaces in closed hyperbolic 4-manifolds. This is j
