SUMMARY:Intersection theory in higher dimensions and applications
LOCATION:Hill 705
DESCRIPTION:Siefring's intersection theory is a power tool in 3D contact topology. In t
his talk, we will explain a simpler yet applicable version of the intersect
ion theory in higher dimensions, which is weaker than the one announced by
Siefring. Then we will explain some topological applications of the theory,
including the unknottedness of symplectic submanifold fillings, tightness
of Bourgeois contact structures, and the chain level homotopies in contact
homology. This is partially based on joint work with Russell Avdek and join
t work in progress with Russell Avdek, Erkao Bao, and Georgios Dimitroglou
 Rizell.\n
