Based on several well-known open problems in group theory, I will explore how to utilize AI/ML in research on infinite groups and how the use of AI changes our perspective on the nature of mathematical problems and their complexity. Furthermore, I will consider the effect of AI on mathematical practices and the essential skills young mathematicians will require in the near future. Time allowing, I will conclude with a discussion on the effectiveness of AI in mathematics education.
